I'm going to get real REAL with you.
Let's talk about those policies -
cancellation fees, late cancellations, no shows
booking same day, booking within 24 hours
It's a very icky, uncomfortable feeling when having to deal with enforcing policies. Yes, you want to stand your guard, and make clients know you mean business. But, we're all human. My booking system does make clients place their card on file to book and have them check off our cancellation fee which is 50% of the service.
My clients are very good to me, honestly. I rarely get late cancels and just hope everything is okay is they have to. I did have only ONE client no show me lol. Which made me change my booking system to hold cards on file because I didn't want to go through that ever again.
I notice I have been more lenient with late cancels and clients booking same day. I understand life happens, things come up. A spray tan isn't going to mean something to a client who is dealing with a sickness or emergency. So give clients the benefit of the doubt, and offer a one time waiver for the cancellation fee.
Just like booking same day, I am really strict with clients understanding they need to prep the day prior and usually don't take same day clients. But if a client is calling me and choosing me for a tan, I gotta go get and get that tan done! They could easily go on google and search up the next person if I said no. That's making me lose out on an opportunity and money!
Covid caused me and my business to close for months!!!! Like my whole world just shut down and I honestly didn't know what was next. So I'm super grateful for any client that decides to book with me.
